Faculty, staff, and students have several options to access or download Microsoft Project.
Please Note: Microsoft has retired Project Online. The web-based experience is now provided through Microsoft Planner.
Please review the following information and select a download option that fits your role and requirements. If you need assistance determining your best option, contact the Technology Support Center.
Microsoft Project in Planner
Planner (view access)Free for Faculty, Staff, & Students
- Microsoft Planner is available to faculty, staff, and students through Microsoft 365 as a browser-based application on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Users can view shared plans and collaborate based on the permissions granted to them.
- Open Microsoft Planner
- Planner Premium licenses are available for purchase by faculty and staff who need to create and manage advanced project plans.
- **License must be renewed yearly.**
- Primary email address must be @uconn.edu
Microsoft Project in Azure Dev Tools for Teaching
Free for Faculty & Students enrolled in STEM programs only. Download & Instructions
- Windows Only
- Includes access to a local computer installation of the latest version of Project.
- Primary email address must be @uconn.edu
- *For personally owned computer use only*
Please Note:
Option 1 provides web-based access through Microsoft Planner. A Planner Premium license is required to create and edit advanced project plans.
Option 2 includes access to a local computer installation of the latest version of Microsoft Project Professional.
