office-365   Microsoft 365 License (Affiliates)

University affiliates are given an A1 license in Microsoft 365, which is a free license. This gives them access to some 365 applications in their web browser. Affiliates who require access to Microsoft Office desktop applications, or who are the primary user* of a University Owned Device, or require certain applications that are not included with an A1 license, can purchase Microsoft 365 licenses via KFS.

There are two options: Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft 365 A5 licenses. Both of these licenses allow users to access and use the desktop office applications and allow the user to be assigned as Primary user of a University Owned Device. Microsoft 365 A5 allows for additional functionality.

The University license expires annually on 7/1**. Each license is transferrable to another user when the original user leaves the University.

*Who is a "primary user"? If you are issued a dedicated (non-shared) computer for your work at UConn, you are a primary user.

**When 7/1 falls on a weekend, the license expires on the next business day.
