The Software Licensing Group, a University-wide body, is changing the way site licensed software is distributed and managed at Uconn. In an effort to make better decisions pertaining to software cost-effectiveness, compliance, and overall need; the SLG has identified K2 Sassafras as the tool that will be used to help manage and distribute software licenses at Uconn.
Beginning July 1st, 2012 phase 1 of the Software Asset Management project will be implemented. As part of this strategy, all SLG supported research and teaching software will be provided to faculty, and staff at no cost. Phase 1 of the project will require the K2 Sassafras tool be installed on computers that will use the following software obtained from SLG; Mathematica, Minitab, NVIVO, Respondus, SAS, and SPSS. These software packages will be downloaded & managed using the new K2 Sassafras software from the SLG site http://software.uconn.edu.
All other software packages will continue to be obtained & managed as they have in the past. For questions please visit our FAQ's page
