Overview

ScholarPass is a software update service which provides updates to the Sun operating system (Solaris) and related software. It also provides the patches and fixes necessary to keep your operating system up-to-date and secure.

Distribution

The main link for Sun Microsystems is www.sun.com. Click on "Support" to access the Sun Systems Handbook, Patches and Updates, Documentation, Warranty and Support Contracts.

Various programs, promotions, products specifically for education are available at www.sun.com/edu.

Upgrade

The university is also entitled to upgrades and patches for new versions that have been released. These are generally via download in the quickest form.

Due to the high number of customers the updates are not automatically sent out. The folks at UCONN would need to call 800 USA 4 SUN and request a copy to be sent or you may also download via the web as a quicker method.

Technical Support

This is for a software contract that includes 7X24 phone support and media upgrades as they become available. It includes your Solaris SPARC site license, SunOne Studio 7, ISol X86, SunSolve and Developer software.

Any person at the university can use the telephone support coverage. All you have to do is call 800 USA 4 SUN, reference the contract number and technical support is available 7X24.
