Mathematica is a comprehensive technical computing environment. It brings new functionality and enhanced connectivity to Java, XML, and the Web and offers new and updated features for linear programming, statistics, optimization, combinatorics, and graph theory.

To get the most out of the Mathematica site license, explore the Mathematica web site. This site provides the latest in Mathematica information and answers to frequently asked questions. In addition, it provides access to the most extensive collection of Mathematica materials.

Eligibility

Mathematica is available for installation on all University owned or leased personal computers (regional campuses included). Any person who is at least a half-time faculty, staff, or student of the University, may install the software on one University owned computer as well as one home computer. You must present a valid UConn ID when picking up your software.

Cost


  • Departments registered and approved through SLG can install the software on thier computer lab machines for a $10 media charge.

  • A single faculty/staff copy purchase is $75.00 per copy.
    • Yearly renewal fee for single copy is $75.00, and due by June 30th.

  • A single student copy is $20.00
    • Yearly renewal fee for single copy is $20.00, and due by June 30th.

  • All vendor supplied upgrades, during the year, are FREE.

  • MAC OS X 10.2; 300MB

  • Linux x86 (Red Hat 7.2, 7.3, 8.0 or equivalent)/ Linux Alpha (Red Hat 7.2 or equivalent); 380MB HD

  • UNIX Solaris (8.0 or later)/ HP Tru64 Unix (5.1 or later)/ HP-UX (11.00 or later for PA-RISC)/IBM AIX (5.1 or later); 400/410/480/380 MB HD respectively



For older systems version 4.2 is still available:

  • Windows 95; 235MB HD

  • MAC OS 8.1 or later; 200MB

  • Linux(Red Hat 7.1 or equivalent or later)/ Power PC Linux(Yellow Dog 2.1 equivalent or later); 270/220 MB HD respectively

  • UNIX (32-bits): SGI IRIX 6.2 or later/Solaris (8.0 or later)/ Compaq Tru64 Unix 5.1 or later/HP-RISC HP-UX 11.00 or later/IBM RS-6000 AIX 5.1 or later; 290/290/310/310/250 MB HD respectively

Contractual Information

Established Terms of Contract:

  • 3 Year agreement began on 8/1/06

  • Start Date: 8/1

  • Expirations Date: 7/31

  • Renewed yearly

Distribution

Mathematica 7 is distributed on DVD only.

Bring a check or transfer voucher to the University ITS Business Office located in the Math Science Building (MSB), ground floor, room 049. Bring a valid UConn ID. You will be asked to fill out and sign a license agreement, with the following information:

  • Name

  • E-Mail address

  • Telephone number

  • Signature (agree not to redistribute the software)

Special Needs

Mathematica documentation has been placed in the Math Department Reading Room for public access. The manuals must remain in the reading room, but the room is open for public access for 9:00am - 4:30pm weekdays.
