Maple

Overview

CURRENT VERSION: 13

Maple is a symbolic computation system or Computer Algebra System that maintains and manipulates the underlying symbols and expressions and evaluates numerical expressions. These symbolic capabilities can be used to obtain exact analytical solutions to many mathematical problems, including integrals, systems of equations, differential equations, and problems in linear algebra.

For more information about Maple click here.

Features

  • Graphic routines for visualizing complicated mathematical information.

  • Numerical algorithms for approximate solutions to problems that do not have closed-form solutions.

  • Worksheet-based graphical interface.

  • Command Line version.

More information about each application can be found in the ReadMe text file on the CD.

Available platforms

  • Linux

  • Unix

  • Windows

  • Macintosh

Distribution

Contact the site license administrator at 860-486-1781 for more information or click here.

The Maple license was purchased in support of academic labs. For the numbers distributed to the registered labs and/or more detail regarding Software-SIG, visit http://software.uconn.edu.

If you are not registered with Software-SIG (lab or individual) but would like to take advantage of this license opportunity, send an email to: software@uconn.edu. Be sure to provide your name, address, email, and department/school affiliation. Include the software 'title(s)' desired, number of copies, and platform (Windows, Linux, UNIX or Macintosh). Prepare a transfer voucher. Make it payable to the University Information Technology Services (University ITS). Bring the TV with you when you pick up your software. Before the software is turned over, you will need to sign an agreement stating that you will install on University owned equipment, for University business, and will not distribute beyond the agreed upon installation policy. The signed agreement is policy, therefore your presence at pickup is required.

Software, once it is prepared and you have received notification, can be picked up at the University ITS Business Office located in the Math Science Building (MSB), ground floor, room 049.
